Alternative Spring Break Application (Domestic Trips Only)

SIUE Alternative Spring Break offers students the opportunity to serve outside the St. Louis area while deeply exploring a social issue and building lasting relationships. For participation in an alternative break to be rewarding, it requires commitment and dedication. Participants are required to attend regular trip meetings where they will get to know their fellow trip members and become educated about the social issue addressed by their service. After returning from spring break, students will participate in post-trip reflection. Kimmel Student Involvement Center Staff Site Leaders serve as facilitators for each trip and lead all of these events.

All participants must be a Southern Illinois University Edwardsville student, staff, or faculty member, in good standing with the University.

The SIUE ASB program fees DO NOT include a background check (if required by agency), travel insurance (international trips only), passport or visa fees (international trips only), meals in transit, souvenirs, extra snacks or special food, or group excursions that are not educational in nature.

Fundraising is possible to decrease the cost of the trip; however, fundraising occurs on a trip-by-trip basis and will be coordinated by participants and Site Leaders.
